according to CBS news earlier today, this movie (if the protesters even knew it exists) may have had nothing whatsoever to do with the attacks. they were prescheduled and coordinated between many countries to occur on the same day as celebration of 9/11 and as revenge for the killing of Bin Laden.
they would still have occured even if the embassy had not given them the ‘opportunistic’ excuse of the movie
