JC Penney has started a new campaign called, “Here I Am.” From the You Tube description:

There is true beauty in individuality. So, when we start letting go of preconceived notions of who someone is based on what they look like on the outside, we all take one step closer to body positivity. What JC Penney didn’t include in this video is the not-so-positive effects of obesity. From the CDC – The Health Effects of Overweight and Obesity:

  • High blood pressure (Hypertension)
  • High LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, or high levels of triglycerides (Dyslipidemia)
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Gallbladder disease

    Then there is the actual correlation between fat and stupid, which wouldn’t have believed, so in spite of my preconceived notions.

    On the upside, they’ll sell a lot more nylon..
