NYC Gun Control Laws at Work: ‘Excessive’ number of shootings leaves 14 injured after 4th of July

NYS FuhrerNEW YORK — An “excessive” number of shootings occurring on the Fourth of July and the following morning in New York City has left 14 people injured, according to the NYPD. Twelve people were shot on Monday’s Independence Day holiday, and an additional two were injured between midnight and 7 a.m. Tuesday, police confirmed.

For any night, this is considered “excessive,” police said. The department’s media relations did not know how this number compared to a typical Fourth of July in the city.

None of the shootings resulted in fatalities, and no arrests were made as of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.  Included in the incidents were seven people who were shot during a Fourth of July barbecue in Brooklyn after a man was allegedly turned away from the gathering before returning and opening fire.  Thst suspected gunman is in custody.
