The meetings led to consulting contracts for Deal’s D.C.-based Long Term Strategy Group.
Clinton recommended Deal to Michele Flournoy, who had just become undersecretary for defense policy at the Department of Defense in 2009. After a May 5, 2009 meeting with Flouroy, Deal thanked Clinton for “all your encouragement and help with DoD.”
