BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — Officials say a Long Island city is installing dozens of license-plate readers to help investigators collect key data amid a string of brutal killings in the city.Officials say about 50 cameras will be placed at roughly 20 locations throughout Brentwood.  Four Brentwood High School teens have been found dead over the past several weeks. The skeletal remains of an 18-year-old, who police say was a known MS-13 gang member, were also found in the city last week.Suffolk County police officials tell Newsday they want to install the cameras in the coming months.License-plate readers capture plate information that can then be checked against a list of wanted suspects, missing people and stolen vehicles.  Police say they’re paying for the cameras using $1 million in state funding.

A once quaint hamlet. Yes, I remember the area as a boy, and it was being built up, out of the pine trees. I had family there. Quiet. Serene. Blue collar Italian and Irish. But it changed. The useless county police, who are the highest paid in the nation, allowed it to fall. Liberal politicians let it happen because they seeded the area with their girlfriends on the side. More drugs = more prostitutes in the area. Politicians’ dreams. Then burglaries. Car thefts. Assaults. Robberies. Homicides. Arson. Kidnap. But the whores remained. Today, the area in gang infested. I looked at a high ranch on 100×300, that was listed for $166K, but the area is a total waste. Blame squarely belongs on the politicians and the county police.
