I accept and understand that human predators exist. Criminal or terrorist, they take advantage of our civilized society to prey upon the weak. They represent evil and must be confronted and defeated.
I believe that self-defense is a moral imperative, and that illegitimate force and illegal violence must be met with righteous indignation and superior violence.
I will not rely on others for the security of myself, my family and my community. I proudly proclaim that I run with a like-minded pack. I do not amble through life with the mind-numbed herd.
I will train with my chosen weapons, maintain them and carry them in a condition of readiness at all times. I will be mentally prepared and physically equipped to effectively respond to an attack or emergency.
I will constantly test myself against realistic standards to discover my strengths and weaknesses. I will turn weakness into strength.
I will seek to learn new skills and techniques, and then teach what I have learned to other members of the pack. Be it with firearm or blade, empty hand or blunt object, I will hit my enemies hard, fast and true.
I will live a quiet and unobtrusive life, but I will develop and retain the capacity for swift and decisive violence. I recognize that I am the modern equivalent of the traditional Minuteman, and that I may be called to service at any time against heavily armed enemies. I will respond effectively.
I accept that I am a pariah among some of my countrymen, and a quaint anachronism to others.
I will not hold their ignorance against them.
I will win, or die trying.
I swear this creed before God, my family and my fellow citizens.

…. “The threat from al-Qaida is much more diffuse after Sept. 11, and the threats posed by a single horribly misguided citizen or permanent legal resident in the U.S. is in a sense as great as what core al-Qaida posed before Sept. 11,” says Neil MacBride, a former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
There you have it. It’s no longer al-Qaeda, it’s now supposedly your friends and neighbors. This is the prevailing meme of every tyrannical fascist regime in history.
The state’s war on the citizenry is becoming overt. Don’t be fooled, this is real and it is very dangerous.
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Battling food shortages, the government is rolling out a new ID system that is either a grocery loyalty card with extra muscle or the most dramatic step yet toward rationing in Venezuela, depending on who is describing it.
President Nicolas Maduro’s administration says the cards to track families’ purchases will foil people who stock up on groceries at subsidized prices and then illegally resell them for several times the amount. Critics say it’s another sign the oil-rich Venezuelan economy is headed toward Cuba-style dysfunction.
Registration begins at more than 100 government-run supermarkets across the country Tuesday, and working-class shoppers who sometimes endure hours-long lines at government-run stores to buy groceries at steeply reduced prices are welcoming the plan. Continue reading
I discovered The Shrugging Out Podcast a few months ago. I did not quite know what to make of it, I admit, until I went through and download several of the earlier episodes and listened to them in chronological order.
The site’s author / Podcaster Peter Farron (sp?) is extremely intelligent, sane, analytical and well thought out: The podcasts are obviously well-prepared in advance and – notwithstanding the intro music – an aesthetic pleasure to listen to.
The content of the shows centers on issues relating to self-sufficiency with a philosophical unpinning in libertarianism, and often draws premises from Ayn Rand’s writings. In his shows, however, Farron does not shy away from the less ethereal: He usually address current news issues, his own process of awakening and what he is doing about it in his dynamic transformation from ‘typical’ patriotic conservative to neo-patriotic libertarian survivalist (my half-assed and inadequate label, not his).
All in all, well worth the time and well worth spreading around to those with interests in libertarianism, survivalism and prepping, Ayn rand, current events, politics and the like.
I am through about 60 of his podcasts now, and will post a permalink to the blogroll. GE.

Why do we all need to acquire a piece of true wealth in the form of owned land? There are several reasons we’ll discuss. For today we’ll leave the whole, “you never really own the land because of taxes” argument off the table and focus on the land attributes that we can control.
The first reason I want each of us preppers to own land… It’s our fundamental right as a United States citizen. Our ancestors didn’t have this right as most nations of the world restricted the land ownership to royalty and the elite of society.
Preparation for disaster, whether natural or man-made, should be as vital as any ideal found in the various practices of religion and spiritualism. Preparedness should be treated with reverence, discipline and duty. The drive for preparation should be seated in the very heart of humanity. As individuals and as a society, we should hold preparedness dear, for it is an expression of the desire for survival and the key to maintaining our inherent freedoms. Without self-sufficiency, we set ourselves up for endless failure and enslavement. Continue reading
Reportedly, there is being a request by a few members of Congress to look into alleged ammunition purchases by the Department of Homeland Security. Numbers are now alleged at two billion rounds of ammunition which is at this time, completely unsubstantiated, but people keep jacking up the numbers. This alone merits being looked into because the fear and panic it is creating has to either be proven or laid to rest as fear mongering, which is very dangerous to the peace of America. Why would people want to start a war in America? Some have demonstrated long ago that they qualify for a straight jacket and to be locked away in a rubber room. On the flip side of the coin, if it is merely an emotional plea to get people’s attention to make them aware of a dangerous situation, Congress needs to go the extra mile for once, and the Congressional underachieving slackers have to stop stuffing money into their pockets and have the DHS ammunition issue, investigated. … Standard canned goods aren’t generally deemed age-worthy. Food technologists define shelf life not by how long it takes for food to become inedible, but how long it takes for a trained sensory panel to detect a “just noticeable difference” between newly manufactured and stored cans. There’s no consideration of whether the difference might be pleasant in its own way or even an improvement—it’s a defect by definition…

Being a Prepper in a Non-Prepping World – by BigStick, Alpha Rubicon, June 28, 2011.
As the world changes around us, sometimes it seems like things are just going from bad to worse. Floods, war, famine, gas prices… more and more items seem to fill the evening news and the Net with dire predictions of what is to come. And yet, in the face of all that, I continue to see articles in the media and online that poke fun at people who are trying to prepare in case of disaster. People who grow their own food, or keep more than the average 1-2 days of canned food in their pantry. City dwellers who are planting gardens of food instead of flowers, and people getting back into canning. People who choose to “Prep” as a form of “Lifestyle Insurance” in case of sudden unemployment, natural disaster or other unforeseen situations that would otherwise have a dramatic negative impact on their families. Since when did preparing for likely personal and natural disasters qualify us as “Kooks” or “Survivalists”?
What I can do:
What I cannot do:
DC has always been distant from the people. Apart from the IRS and the draft, they were “the other” we read about in the papers, running gangsters and spies to ground, getting the interstate built, fighting wars and generally looking out for the Little Guy. We believed they were the Big Picture People doing things on the largest scale on behalf of all who worked hard, lived responsibly and stayed right with the law. DC was the captain and crew of our mighty ship, alert and sure, cutting cleanly through heavy seas and turgid morass alike, while their grateful passengers shuddered at the hardship and horrors beyond the delights of the endless buffet on the promenade deck. Orwell hit this one on the head…
So if you had any doubt that NDAA, CISPA, DHS, drones, warrant-less searches, TSA, the Newtown-circus and citizen disarmament etc. were a prelude to your preemptive criminalization, consider yourself disabused of that comforting notion.
Make no mistake about it you tinfoil hat wearing, gun toting, Bible clinging, knuckle dragging anachronisms: YOU ARE the the threat. YOU are the enemy. YOU must be handled, managed, silenced, marginalized and entrapped.
The state fears nothing so much as an awakened, empowered and angry citizenry and so you sheep are not allowed off the farm. Punishment will be severe.
So, what are you going to do? I think that the time for calls and letters to Congressmen, candlelight vigils, writing op-eds and cordial, thought provoking discourse to the uninformed has long been over: That stuff is pointless. The time is here to get ready for the long pull, the dark struggle, the end game.
I say it is time to disappear, opt out and go Galt. I say the ‘laws’ and Government are now so illegal, so immoral that the only ethical course of action is to withdraw from that context. In other words, I quit. I am forming and fostering a new society of the like minded. If that makes me a “sovereign man” to you Mr. FBI person, so be it. And fuck you. I’ll be out here working for the good, and working against you if needed.
Good luck on getting me back in the corral.

But thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court, the deputy did not have to take no for an answer. In the 2005 case Illinois v. Caballes, the Court declared that “the use of a well-trained narcotics-detection dog…during a lawful traffic stop generally does not implicate legitimate privacy interests.” So the deputy was free to walk his dog around Burns’ truck. “He got out with this dog and went around the car, two or three times,” Burns says. “He came back and said the dog had ‘passively alerted’ on my vehicle.” via This Dog Can Send You to Jail – Reason.com.

RANT WARNING: So, as followers of this blog have figured out I don’t usually opine much, preferring to let the things I cross post speak for themselves. President Obama has said that his push to effectively delete the Second Amendment will face “significant resistance.” It is time to show him and those in Congress how much resistance there is for any sort of additional gun bans and/or registration requirements in a peaceful and lawful manner. Print copies of this and dispatch them to your Congresspeople, The White House, and staple them to telephone poles and other locations across the country.
How many of those calling for gun control have ever killed another living thing?
I mean up close and personal. Not eating a hamburger that was in a package in the store, or grilling some chicken breasts that were all nicely-packaged in cellophane?
And I’m not talking about smashing a mosquito, spraying a hornet’s nest with wasp spray or similar or taking a shovel to a rattlesnake in the back yard either. Continue reading
Note: This article was written by Daisy Luther and originally published at The Organic Prepper.
Last week I wrote an article in response to the media’s vilification of preppers in the aftermath of the horrible tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. The article was quoted in an article on Yahoo.com, to my great astonishment, and that is when I saw how little most people understand about prepping. You can see in most of the 4492 comments the article received that many folks just don’t “get it”.
My inbox was filled with a barrage of hate mail and a number of people felt compelled to leave angry and rather ignorant comments on my website. I got messages from people that called me “batshit crazy”, messages from gun control advocates, messages from people who directly blamed me and all other preppers for the massacre, and even one particularly hate-filled email from a person who said “I hope that your kids are killed at the next school shooting.”All of this leads me to reconfirm my belief that people sincerely do not understand why we do what we do, and that ignorance leads to fear.
People fear what they don’t understand and hate what they can’t conquer. — Andrew Smith…
The Department of Homeland Security’s production of domestic intelligence has increased substantially over the last few years according to a brochure of “intelligence products” published last month by Cryptome. The 2012 DHS Intelligence Enterprise Product Line Brochure is “a standardized catalogue of intelligence reports and products that represent the full breadth” of the agency’s analytical capabilities. It provides descriptions of each type of product created by the DHS Intelligence Enterprise as well as the classification level and instructions on how DHS “customers” can obtain the products. In times of trouble, your charitable donations and taxes, that in the good times go to fund organizations such as the Red Cross and Fema, seem to disappear as these agencies end up doing very little for the residents of disaster areas. During hurricane Sandy, where both the government and Red Cross had more than 8 days to prepare for the exact locations where the storm would strike, few efforts by both agencies could be found.
And on November 1st, the disgust was so great for the Red Cross, a Staten Island official publicly announced that no American should give donations to the decades old relief agency…via The Daily Economist.

The other night was a lot of fun. We fired up the mass heater and listened to music and danced. The acoustics in the round room are amazing. Our couch not only provided a toasty place to sit, but made our tea for us too. We’re looking forward to cooking all kinds of things on it.
And for the bulk of the cooking and additional warmth in the kitchen, there is this wood cookstove.

The survivalist knows things could go on like they are for the rest of his life, after all, ships get scrapped with their full compliment of life boats all the time. Next up will be the “everything’s going to be okay in six to eight weeks” crowd. They’ll matter even less then than now, come a real catastrophe there are more dangerous crowds to stay away from. “Ham radio has worked in emergencies where nothing else gets through. …,” said Ham teacher Norm Goodkin. “It’s also helping build basic skills — skills that are no longer taught in school — improving not only our ability to communicate in disasters, but adding back some of the ‘lost tools’ that Americans used to be famous for — the ability to do things ourselves.”
The tragic events of Sept. 9, 2001, and Hurricane Katrina in 2005 highlighted two phenomena common in disasters: Network communications tower sites were destroyed, and network traffic overwhelmed systems — two distinct issues causing failure in both public safety, and consumer-oriented communications. As readers of this blog may have figured out, I don’t go in much for open-ended-autocorrelative-conspiracy-theories presented as fact. At best these sorts of things are allegations, hypotheses or possibilities. That said, David Chase Taylor deserves to be parroted if for no other reason than for the work he has done in piecing together a hypothesis of false-flag / nuclear terrorism – something I DO believe we are likely to see in the near future. My wife and I have been prepping for well over a year now; and when we think we have it all ready, we find ourselves doing more. But that’s ok; nothing is done that is not worthwhile.
In our prepping world only 2 people we know personally know of our preparations. A few other like-minded people that we have befriended through forums know as well; they do not know us in person however. We have made it a commitment to keep our stores of food, weapons and survival supplies our secret. Continue reading
Prepping is about self-reliance. What is self-reliance you may ask? It is is the state of not requiring any aid, support, or interaction, for survival like from the government, a bank, the police, the grocery store, etc…. It is therefore a type of personal or collective autonomy….

… The Basis for the Search Warrants states:
Mr. Dutton, a military veteran, has been preparing for the economic collapse of the world. In addition to gathering a large supply of non-perishable items, he also has a modest collection of firearms and ammunition. And he makes fireworks.
During the trial, the prosecution played clips from the popular National Geographic Channel show, “Doomsday Preppers”. The prosecution used images of various “crazy ass preppers” from the T.V. show to successfully paint a picture of Mr. Dutton, as someone on the fringe of society that posed an extreme danger to his community… via off grid survival
Why do I prep for the uncertainty that looms before us? I’ve never really answered that question outside of my family. No one really knows what I do. Not because I’m ashamed or worried about what they’ll think of me, but because I don’t want to have to turn away friends who want the food I stored for my kids because their kids are hungry. If they don’t know, they won’t come to me. And that’s harsh, I know, but hey, to borrow from a previous winner, sorry, friends, go die somewhere else. Continue reading
By: J Young. “...In my opinion becoming self reliant is by far the most important thing to concentrate on. Total self reliance is the goal of most preppers that are in the community for the long run. Remember that prepping is a change in lifestyle and not just something you do just for emergencies. “… Cold appraisal of the corruption, deep capture, incompetence and general treachery of our ruling class and their swarms of apparatchiks says it’s prudent to take any conceivable civil calamity onto our accounts. Among the costs to us are evasion and survival skills. Be clear about this, no peaceful person of good will living in a sane society needs such expertise. It’s a personal disfigurement, the dark side of natural law, a rebuke to civilization itself. Those who see these things as an adventure warrant our deep suspicion. Yet no sooner are we subjected to one outrage than another follows, each betrayal more astonishing than the last.
The realist must acknowledge the one-sided, top-down trashing of the social contract and prepare for ever more calamitous turns of events, and so it is we reluctantly and regretfully consider such tactics here. ‘

At its heart, prepping is simply preparing for the future. And since there is no certainty of what that future may bring, preppers frequently hope for the best yet prepare for the worse. And with good reason, many preppers feel that we are on the verge of a significant change in life as we know it.
So they prepare…
