Nothing to see here, this is all fine folks, Just move along.
FedGov is now openly programming thought monitoring and neighbor-snitching. And, better yet, we also see once again that the mental health industry is merely one tentacle of state power. (Dr. Szaz where are you?). Same for your clergy it seems.
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation is setting up shared responsibility committees in New Jersey to help stop home-grown terrorism.WCBS 880’s Mike Smeltz reported this partnership between communities and the FBI looks to use identification and mental health counseling as tools to those who might head down a path of extremism. The committees would include community leaders, clergy members and mental health professionals whose goal would be to identify those who might support terrorist activities and stopping it before ideas turn into plans.This would be someone who’s expressed support for a terrorist group, either in a community meeting or online.The Record reported that some in the Muslim community in New Jersey are worried that this program will effectively turn community members into government informants.The FBI said this initiative is about heading off extremism before law enforcement gets involved. Washington (CNN) They’re carrying out sporadic terror attacks on police, have threatened attacks on government buildings and reject government authority.
A new intelligence assessment, circulated by the Department of Homeland Security earlier this month and reviewed by CNN, focuses on the domestic terror threat from right-wing sovereign citizen extremists, and comes as the Obama administration holds a White House conference to focus efforts to fight violent extremism.
Some federal and local law enforcement groups view the domestic terror threat from sovereign citizen groups as equal to — and in some cases greater than — the threat from foreign Islamic terror groups, such as ISIS, that garner more public attention.
The DHS report, produced in coordination with the FBI, counts 24 violent sovereign citizen-related attacks around the U.S. since 2010…. blah blah blah
There were 24 attacks by the dangerous right-wingers in the US in the last 4 years? There were 24 violent attacks on black folks by other black folks in Camden NJ last fricken week!
Go here for the rest of the nauseating, fascistic fear-mongering, thought control and propaganda if you so choose. I myself will be cleaning guns and shopping for lengths of gas pipe.
(ANTIMEDIA) NEW YORK, NY- NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton announced Thursday that 350 heavily armed NYPD officers, called the “Strategic Response Group,” will soon be patrolling protests and the city at large.
He said the new strain of hyper-armed police will be
“…equipped and trained in ways that our normal patrol officers are not. They’ll be equipped with all the extra heavy protective gear, with the long rifles and machine guns — unfortunately sometimes necessary in these instances.”
Lumping protesters in with terrorists, he said the permanent force will deal with “disorder control and counterterrorism protection capabilities.” It will allegedly assist on crime scenes and help with “crowd control and other large-scale events.”
It is not unusual for authorities to ramp up “security”…
In a story unlikely to receive attention from the mainstream media in the United States, a former Guantanamo Bay captive has been arrested in Spain for operating what authorities there say is a sophisticated jihadist recruitment network.
Spanish media is reporting that the one-time Gitmo prisoneris a 46-year-old Moroccan named Lahcen Ikassrien, who heads an Islamic cell that recruits fighters for the Syrian and Iraqi-based terror group known as Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Ikassrien and seven others were arrested in Madrid recently as part of a dozen raids on terrorism cells in the Spanish capital, Madrid....
” The man, Asaf Mohammad, 26, of Manapalan, who spent several hours trapped in a pipe at a United Water facility, was rescued this morning and then promptly arrested for fourth-degree criminal trespass, said Capt. Michael Fountain of the Manalapan Police.
He was freed at about 11 a.m. The mayor said the man is known to police, but would not elaborate. “

” The White House on Wednesday abandoned its threat that President Barack Obama would veto a defense bill over provisions on how to handle suspected terrorists as Congress raced to finish the legislation.
Press secretary Jay Carney said last-minute changes that Obama and his national security team sought produced legislation that “does not challenge the president’s ability to collect intelligence, incapacitate dangerous terrorists and protect the American people.”
Based on the modifications, “the president’s senior advisers will not recommend a veto,” the White House said….
An alleged plot to attack U.S. federal law officers by suspected members of a fringe north Georgia militia group was inspired by an online anti-government novel, authorities said.The four listed in the indictment are Thomas; Dan Roberts, 67; Ray Adams, 65; and Samuel Crump, 68. The men live in the north Georgia towns of Cleveland and Toccoa.
Court documents state that 73-year-old Frederick Thomas, a suspected member of the group, told others that he intended to model their actions on the online novel “Absolved,” which involves small groups of citizens attacking U.S. officials.
According to a federal complaint. the four suspected members [my emphasis added to highlight what these nitwits actually MAY have done] …
were part of a group that tried to obtain an unregistered explosive device;
sought out the complex formula to produce ricin, a biological toxin that can be lethal in small doses,
had been talking about “covert” operations … discussing murder, theft and using toxic agents and assassinations to undermine the state and federal government;
At one meeting, investigators say, [Thomas] openly discussed creating a “bucket list” of government employees, politicians, corporate leaders and members of the media he felt needed to be “taken out.”
“I’ve been to war, and I’ve taken life before, and I can do it again,” he told an undercover investigator, according to the records.
[Thomas and Roberts are] accused of buying what they believed was a silencer and an unregistered explosive from an undercover informant in May and June.
Prosecutors say he discussed using the weapons in attacks against federal buildings,
[Crump also] discussed making 10 pounds of ricin and dispersing it in Atlanta and various cities across the nation, suggesting it can be blown out of a car speeding down an interstate highway;
[Adams] is accused of showing an informant the formula to make ricin and identifying the ways to obtain the ingredients;
[Thomas] is accused of driving to Atlanta with a confidential informant on May 24 and scoping out an IRS building there and an ATF building “to plan and assess for possible attacks,” the indictment states.
And now the punchline: ” U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said the case is a reminder that “we must also remain vigilant in protecting our country from citizens within our own borders who threaten our safety and security.”
Thus, these four elderly rubes – all stupid enough not to avoid being framed and to be able to maintain basic operational security in their ‘terrorist operation’ – are now trotted out as one more reason to strip civil liberties from United States citizens. I guess that the FBI was having trouble finding enough home grown Muslim terrorists to justify the police state.
