New York: New NYPD Policy to Patrol Protests with Machine Guns

Starvin Larry

2014_07_bratton10a.jpg(ANTIMEDIA) NEW YORK, NY- NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton announced Thursday that 350 heavily armed NYPD officers, called the “Strategic Response Group,” will soon be patrolling protests and the city at large.

He said the new strain of hyper-armed police will be

“…equipped and trained in ways that our normal patrol officers are not. They’ll be equipped with all the extra heavy protective gear, with the long rifles and machine guns — unfortunately sometimes necessary in these instances.”

Bratton announced  their purpose is specifically

“…designed for dealing with events like our recent protests, or incidents like Mumbai or what just happened in Paris.”

Lumping protesters in with terrorists, he said the permanent force will deal with “disorder control and counterterrorism protection capabilities.” It will allegedly assist on crime scenes and help with “crowd control and other large-scale events.”

It is not unusual for authorities to ramp up “security”…

A Veteran Policeman’s Observations on The Golden Horde | SB

horde-1James:  A lot has been written warning us of what will happen when the City Dwellers find their homes are untenable and vacate [en masse as The Golden Horde] for “the country”, but I haven’t seen anything on what the make-up of these hordes will be. The generic term “city dwellers” encompasses a lot of territory. Who will they be,what kind of shape will they be in, how will they be armed…all of these need to be examined. One category needs to be examined, I feel, more closely than others. Since I have seen posts on your site lately dealing with the nitty-gritty, unpleasant aspects of prepping, I think this is a needed look into what’s out there. I’ve been a cop over 20 years, my last uniform assignment before moving to Investigator being a two year stretch of Anti-Crime patrols in the Section 8 Housing projects of my city. This put me into contact with some of the “Worst of the Worst” that will be fleeing the cities in time of trouble. Gang-bangers, common street thugs, dope dealers and users, all have a place in the hierarchy of the streets. And they will certainly be part of what preppers will be facing in times of troubles. Here’s some of what I have learned:

The bottom rung is occupied by the drug addicts and users. They exist, not live as we understand the word. They have no assets, no goals, no drive. But they do have an almost animal instinct to continue living. They will be armed with anything they can steal or lay hands on. Most will have a knife of razor box cutter, and some sort of cheap pistol, or they will not live to get out of the city. Since they have no resources or assets, they will be on the edge of starvation and desperation almost within a day of an event. With no fixed residence or place to defend, they will be hitting the road and coming towards us. Featured Image -- 16225They will become violent without any provocation and there will be no negotiating or bargaining with them. They don’t want to hear your story or excuses. All they want is what you have. And have no doubts: They will do anything to get what they want. And this does include catering to their most base instincts of rape, murder and mutilation. Letting someone like this even close to you and what you have is flirting with death.

Gunrunner: Judge rules the Department of Justice must release Fast and Furious log

America's Watchtower

project-gunrunner-graphicIt has been quite a long time since there has been anything to write about Fast and Furious. In fact since Eric Holder ran to Barack Obama and begged the president to use Executive Privilege to seal the documents which I believe show the upper level of the Obama regime to have been complicit in the scandal the investigation has been dead for all intents and purposes.

But today Darrell Issa, and all those who want to learn the truth about the scandal which left Brian Terry and Jamie Zapata dead, won a small victory.

Company proposes $1.082 billion buy-out of Remington | The Herkimer Times

ILION — Global Digital Solutions, Inc. has made an unsolicited offer to buy Remington Outdoor Company for a little more than $1 billion, according to a release from the West Palm Beach, Fla., based company looking to increase its cyber-security and military-related products.

The company filed a Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission Tuesday offering to buy Remington, also known as Freedom Group, Inc. for $1.082 billion in cash and shares of Global Digital Solutions’ common stock.

A memo circulating to Remington employees from chairman and Chief Executive Officer George Kollitides said the proposition is a “publicity stunt from an agenda-driven group with no credible financing options,” according to the Grand View Outdoors blog.

The growth of the cyber-arms industry prompted the offer, said Global Digital Solution’s chairman and CEO Richard Sullivan in a news release.

“In this dynamic environment, we see enormous opportunity to consolidate this market with a program of targeted acquisitions, including the proposed Freedom transaction,” he said in the release.

The proposed buyout is one of three Global Digital Solutions has proposed. According to the release, it also is putting forward proposals for Digital Angel Corp and Applied Digital Solutions, both commercial technology companies.

Net sales for Freedom Group in 2013 were to be in the range of $1.25 billion and $1.275 billion, according to its 2013 Financial Guidance report released on Dec. 9, 2013.

Steps were being taken in November 2013 to finish a merger of Global Digital Solutions and Airtronic USA, Inc., an engineering company that produces cyber-arms and parts for such weapons.

Remington has a near-200-year-old manufacturing plant in Ilion and recently announced an expansion in Huntsville, Ala., that would support as many as 2,000 jobs.

A call to Sullivan and Teddy Novin, director of marketing and public affairs for Freedom Group, were not immediately returned.

…Politicians in Connecticut have grossly overplayed their hand with the state’s so-called “assault weapon” ban and registration act.  Being politicians, they seem to feel they are above consequence for their actions, and so it seems as if they will push ahead with plans to attempt to bring the owners of more than 350,000 “undocumented” firearms and nearly 2 million standard capacity magazines to heal.  There are but 1,120 sworn officers in the Connecticut State Police as of last week.  There are though to be between 80,000-100,000 owners of “undocumented” firearms and magazines, along with perhaps hundreds of thousands of sympathetic owners of various other arms… go here and go here for the full list of tyrants (originially published at Sipsey Street Irregulars)

My Letter to Ted Cruz on Gun Control Proposals | Prof. Randy Burnett via Volokh

posted by Randy Barnett • February 12, 2013 12:17 pm

Today, the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights is holding a hearing on proposals for new gun controls.  Below is my letter to the Ranking Member, Senator Ted Cruz, which expands upon a brief op-ed of mine, Gun Control Fails Rationality Test, that ran in the Washington Examiner a couple weeks ago:

Hon. Ted Cruz, Ranking Member….

Dear Senator Cruz,

Within minutes of the Sandy Hook murders, gun control advocates began exploiting this horrific event to promote their favored policies. I know this because I was contacted by reporters to respond to these calls even before I had heard that the event had taken place moments before. This was far too early to know what had happened, much less how and why. Yet the drum beat had begun for long sought after measures that would not have prevented these murders. That drum beat continues. Continue reading

Mr. Biden: I’ll be keeping my guns, you have gone too far | The Grey Enigma

The President IS going to act…they’re executive orders, executive action, that can be taken…we haven’t decided what that is yet, but we’re compiling it all with help of the attorney general and, uhh, and all the rest of the cabinet members, as well as the legislative action we believe is required… via Modern Survival Blog.

RANT WARNING: So, as followers of this blog have figured out I don’t usually opine much, preferring to let the things I cross post speak for themselves.  I fear we are at the threshold, however, of some new and nasty developments in this latest act in our ‘gun control’ kabuki theater and I can’t keep my mouth shut. Control | Ol’ Remus & The Woodpile Report

Control

There is only one way to shorten and ease the convulsions of the old society and the bloody birth pangs of the new —revolutionary terror. – Karl Marx

To overcome our enemies we must have our own socialist militarism. We must carry along with us 90 million out of the 100 million of Soviet Russia’s population. As for the rest, we have nothing to say to them. They must be annihilated. – Grigory Zinoviev, head of the Communist International, 1918, purged and executed in 1936

We know how socialism in Russia worked out: decades of terror, mass arrests, labor camps, intentional famines, atrocities and executions. Why did the populace not resist? It began this way, in 1918, and you’ll note it was not a suggestion:

 Citizens! Hand over your weapons

94 years later… It is truly a strange time in which we live. The Russian news outlet Pravda, formerly the mouthpiece of the Soviet regime, has published an opinion column encouraging Americans not to surrender their guns and gun rights to the government. The column warns that the disarming of the population is one of the first steps toward government repression and totalitarianism, and cites Russian history as an example, as this is exactly what happened in Russia when the Bolsheviks came to power. – Daniel S., comment at amnation.com Continue reading

NY Paper Publishes Legal Gun Permit Holders Names in Print & Online | AMI Global Security

…December 23rd 2012 a New York Newspaper Printed the names and addresses of every Licensed Pistol Permit holder in two Counties [poster’s note: Rockland and Westchester]  and another County is being posted shortly! This is a massive privacy breach and the latest in a series of over the top emotional reactions to the latest shooting tragedy in Sandy Hook CT meant to intimidate the lawful and  prey on peoples fears to exploit the gun grabbing agenda.

In an article title “The gun owner next door: What you don’t know about the weapons in your neighborhood” the paper linked to an interactive map titled: “Map: Where are the gun permits in your neighborhood?” where you can search neighborhoods to see who received a legal permit to own a hand gun license listed by name and address…

Feinstein to Introduce Updated Assault Weapons Bill in New Congress |Volokh Conspiracy

… So reports a press release from last week; note these details:

A Justice Department study found the Assault Weapons Ban was responsible for a 6.7 percent decline in total gun murders. However, since the 2004 expiration of the bill, assault weapons have been used in at least 459 incidents, resulting in 385 deaths and 455 injuries.

Three thoughts:

1. The study that Sen. Feinstein is apparently referring to did seem to find that states in which an assault weapon ban was first introduced (but that lacked certain other confounding factors) “were 6.7 percent below the projection” of what the gun murder rate would be without the assault weapons ban. But in the very next sentence, the study says, “Random, year-to-year fluctuations could not be ruled out as an explanation of the 6.7-percent drop,” and later says, “The public safety benefits of the 1994 ban have not yet been demonstrated.” Continue reading

I mean up close and personal.  Not eating a hamburger that was in a package in the store, or grilling some chicken breasts that were all nicely-packaged in cellophane?

How to Beat a TSA Body Scanner [and Flush $1 Billion Down the Toilet] | SHTFPlan & Infowars

Our government has spent billions on homeland security and stripped Americans of their natural rights to be secure in their homes and their persons all in the name of safety and maintaining the perception of control.

In a demonstration that has no doubt led to a public relations nightmare for DHS and is sure to lead to calls of aiding and abetting terrorists, engineer Jon Corbett of TSA Out of Our Pants takes aim directly at TSA backscatter body scanners that are supposed to be the last line of defense for maintaining the safety and security of our public transportation systems.

To date the government has spent some $1 billion dollars to implement this technology across the United States – all of it now rendered useless by an extremist alternative news blog…. here – via How to Beat a TSA Body Scanner [and Flush $1 Billion Down the Toilet] (*Video*).

Gadhafi regime missiles missing | APP

WASHINGTON – Inspectors searching for shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles amassed by Moammar Gaddafi and prized by terrorists can’t account for potentially thousands of them. “The frank answer is we don’t know and probably never will,” said Andrew Shapiro, an assistant secretary of State.

Inspectors have accounted for about 5,000 of the portable missiles and components. Qaddafi’s regime stockpiled about 20,000 portable missiles during his four decades in power…via APP.com

The TSA Proves its Own Irrelevance | Schneier on Security

January 9, 2012 – The TSA Proves its Own Irrelevance

Have you wondered what $1.2 billion in airport security gets you? The TSA has compiled its own “Top 10 Good Catches of 2011”:

10. Snakes, turtles, and birds were found at Miami MIA and Los Angeles LAX. I’m just happy there weren’t any lions, tigers, and bears… […]

3. Over 1,200 firearms were discovered at TSA checkpoints across the nation in 2011. Many guns are found loaded with rounds in the chamber. Most passengers simply state they forgot they had a gun in their bag.

2. A loaded .380 pistol was found strapped to passenger’s ankle with the body scanner at Detroit DTW. You guessed it, he forgot it was there…

1. Small chunks of C4 explosives were found in passenger’s checked luggage in Yuma YUM. Believe it or not, he was brining it home to show his family.

That’s right; not a single terrorist on the list. Mostly forgetful, and entirely innocent, people. Note that they fail to point out that the firearms and knives would have been just as easily caught by pre-9/11 screening procedures. And that the C4 — their #1 “good catch” — was on the return flight; they missed it the first time. So only 1 for 2 on that one.

And the TSA decided not to mention its stupidest confiscations:

TSA confiscates a butter knife from an airline pilot. TSA confiscates a teenage girl’s purse with an embroidered handgun design. TSA confiscates a 4-inch plastic rifle from a GI Joe action doll on the grounds that it’s a “replica weapon.” TSA confiscates a liquid-filled baby rattle from airline pilot’s infant daughter. TSA confiscates a plastic “Star Wars” lightsaber from a toddler… “

Inside President Obama’s War On The Fast & Furious Whistleblowers | Forbes

…No one at DOJ is known to have been held accountable for this attack on Dodson. Meanwhile, the whistleblowers who blew the top off Fast and Furious are paying the price.

  • Agent John Dodson, after nearly a year of harassment, including being given menial assignments and being barred from areas of the ATF building in Phoenix, is in the process of trying to sell his home in Arizona so he can transfer to South Carolina.
  • Agent Larry Alt transferred to Florida. He still has unresolved legal claims against the ATF.
  • Agent Pete Forcelli was demoted to a desk job after he testified before Congress. He has requested an internal investigation to address retaliation targeting him.
  • Agent James Casa took a transfer to Florida.
  • Agent Carlos Canino, who was a deputy attache in Mexico City, was moved to Tucson.

Meanwhile the officials who went along with the operation and its subsequent cover up have mostly been rewarded.

  • Former Acting ATF Chief Ken Melson, after refusing to be a scapegoat for this operation, became an adviser in the Office of Legal Affairs in Washington, D.C.
  • Acting Deputy Director Billy Hoover is now the special agent in charge of the D.C. office.
  • Deputy Director for Field Operations William McMahon—he’d received detailed briefings Fast and Furious—is now at the ATF’s Office of Internal Affairs.
  • Former Special Agent in Charge of Phoenix William Newell—he oversaw Fast and Furious and lied by saying guns hadn’t been allowed to go south of the border—is now at the Office of Management in Washington, D.C.
  • Phoenix Deputy Chief George Gillette is now in to Washington, D.C., as ATF’s liaison to the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
  • ATF Group Supervisor David Voth—he managed Fast and Furious out of the Phoenix office—is now in a management position in Washington, D.C.
  • Agent Hope McCallister—she had management duties on the team that ran Fast and Furious—was given a “Lifesaving Award” after it came to light she’d ordered agents to stop tailing suspects who the ATF had allowed to buy guns.
